379 Sr. Systems Administrator (Linux)

Location: NSWCDD, Dahlgren VA On-Site

Clearance: Secret

Certifications: Linux system administration.

Tasking:

  • Build, configure security requirements, update, and install required software on Red Hat and EPEL.
  • Create build disks for Linux OS to support new system deployment and rebuild of deployed systems.
  • Create and support local Linux user accounts;
  • Support storage infrastructure with Access Control Lists.
  • Configure and maintain virtual Linux systems on Hyper-V.
  • Install and troubleshoot Host Based Security System (HBSS).
  • Run, comprehend, and implement security-required modifications to systems based on Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) and Tenable Network Security Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) reports.
  • Support accreditation requirements associated with all Linux systems for the Division to include reviewing and updating Plan of Action and Milestone.
  • Serve as the principal advisor on all Linux matters involving the security and functionality of an information system.
  • Provide documented procedures as applicable to daily tasks performed.
  • Assist in the development of Linux security policies and procedures and to ensure compliance with those policies and procedures.
  • Monitor all Linux systems in accordance with accreditation requirements.

 Requirements:

  • Per DoD Directive 8570.01-M or successor, this position requires IAT Level 2;
  • Certification in Linux system administration.
  • Eligible for IT Level-II designation under DoD Directive 8570.01M or its successor.
  • Seven (7) years of demonstrated experience administering Linux systems;
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining Linux servers;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience supporting Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS;
  • Demonstrated Skills in three or more of the following : Administration of Red Hat Linux 7, Red Hat Linux 8, CentOS Linux, Ubuntu Linux, to include drivers, applications, vulnerabilities, security requirements and postures, quarterly STIG updates, interact with corporate and vendor SMEs to solve complex problems, RMF experience, ACAS scanning, build and maintain Linux Systems;
  • Demonstrated experience documenting trouble reports from STIGs to support computer equipment modifications.

Compensation Details

  • Salary range: $135K – $145K.
