362 Business Development Manager

Position Summary

SDC is seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives in the Defense industry and other Federal sectors. The ideal candidate will identify new opportunities, cultivate relationships, and secure contracts, while effectively communicating technical concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a robust business development pipeline.
  • Own all aspects of the capture process.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities within the Defense and other Federal sectors.
  • Build strong relationships with government customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create competitive proposals and tailored solutions.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and potential partners to uncover growth opportunities.
  • Execute strategic business development plans to meet company targets and expand market presence.
  • Represent SDC at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
  • Provide regular reports and actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Leverage government contracting vehicles (GWACs, IDIQs, etc.) to maximize value.
  • Implement capture processes to enhance go-to-market strategy and improve win rates.
  • Contribute to proposal strategy, content development, and quality reviews.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related technical field, is desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of success in federal business development and capture management, with deep knowledge of DoD agencies and programs.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts; comfortable working with technical teams.
  • Strong grasp of DoD acquisition processes, procurement regulations, and contracting mechanisms.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Proven track record of meeting sales and growth targets.
  • Active or prior security clearance; ability to obtain clearance required.
  • Experience in small business environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and federal acquisition regulations.
  • Expertise in federal business practices including price-to-win evaluations and risk management.
  • Familiarity with federal contracting vehicles (GWACs, IDIQs, etc.).
  • Proficiency with opportunity mining tools (GovWinIQ, SAM, etc.).
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat).
  • Must pass a background check; additional checks may be required.
