Education

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience demonstrated strong technical understanding and the ability to prepare complex, detailed technical documents and reports, &/OR
  • Coordination of task planning, schedule development, and task execution for DoD and Navy programs and projects

Technical Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of software applications and best business practices
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to produce complex documents containing tables, graphs, charts, and multi-column formats
  • Experience processing complex technical reports and documentation
  • Ability to participate in Technical Progress Reviews, Design Reviews, and other technical meetings
  • Ability to provide timely status updates and contribute to technical reports, white papers, and meeting materials

Facilities & Operational Support:

  • Support both the Department Facilities Lead and Division facilities tasking
  • Assist in managing facilities schedules and coordinating with contractors or government personnel regarding work status
  • Enter and track trouble tickets to ensure maintenance and repairs are completed
  • Conduct safety inspections to ensure worksites are properly maintained and comply with safety standards

Additional Requirements:

  • Government-approved vehicle driver preferred
  • Occasional travel to the Naval Observatory (rare) may be required

Clearance:  Secret

Certifications: Preferred but not required

 Tasking:

  • Lead a small Undersea Warfare (USW) SW development team
  • Primary tasking includes developing code for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Fire Control System
  • Manage SW development schedule
  • Meet periodically with government leadership to provide project status
  • Identify and communicate development concerns to leadership
  • Mentor/lead junior developers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
  • Four (4) to Six (6) years of professional experience providing technical support in:
    • Software requirement analysis
    • Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software.
  • Software development experience with:
    • One or more of the following high-level computer languages: C/C++, Java, Ada.
    • RedHat operating system, using standard UNIX/Linux tools and utilities.
    • Implementation of track modeling and time algorithms.

Location: NSWCDD-ON-site Dahlgren VA

Clearance: TS/SCI

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field, or 4 years of relevant technical experience.
  • 5+ years in electrical design and engineering.
  • Proven ability to plan and design projects to meet objectives.
  • Experience with industry-standard CAD tools, including:
  • Altium, Agilent ADS, LT Spice, MATLAB, LabVIEW, CST, HFSS
  • Skilled in creating technical data packages and documentation per industry standards.
  • PCB design experience

Responsibilities

  • Conducts R&D, testing, and integration of custom embedded systems and specialized communications.
  • Develops rapid engineering solutions to unconventional threats by translating high-level requirements into integrated microelectronic designs.
  • Designs electrical circuits, RF receivers, and compact antennas with minimal oversight. Performs analog/digital circuit and embedded microcontroller design, modeling, schematic capture, PCB layout, and coding.
  • Lead integration and testing, including electromagnetic and environmental verification, to ensure system reliability.
  • Collaborates with Project Leads to refine requirements, research alternatives, and assess technical risks.
  • Builds prototypes to validate designs, working with technicians as needed.
    Coordinates with mechanical engineers for integration into custom enclosures.
  • Documents designs and follows configuration management protocols.
